Just a little info, if you're interested. I have been a crafter all my life and will try most anything. When I first saw an article in a craft magazine about Iris Folding, I couldn't resist. I love paper and all the colors, weights and textures, so this really appealed to me. I did the project in the magazine and was hooked.
I showed my first projects to my best friend Mary Louks, and she encouraged me to start teaching some Iris Folding classes. That was over 8 years ago. Since then I've taught hundreds of classes, written my own beginner's book and made a thousand projects. I now have the equipment to design my own shapes and produce the cutouts, which are obviously sold here on this site. I retired after 32 years with the City of Los Angeles in April 2005. I knew my retirement was going to be filled with various crafts, but I didn't envision the depth and direction that Iris Folding would take me. It's been a ton of fun. Besides Mary, I would also like to thank many members of my family for their love and support, including my son Adam, step-sons Greg and Jeff, brothers Deryck, Devin and Dean, all my sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and especially my Dad. Precious thanks go to my late mother, Clarissa Jane Tufts True, who passed away in July 2005. She was the biggest fan of everything I did and I miss her terribly. This photo of her and me was taken at my retirement reception. Thanks for visiting my website. Dedra True-Scheib |
